Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized 
Senior HR Officer
 to oversee 
recruitment
 and
internal employee relations
 across our growing 
nail salon chain
. This role plays a key leadership position in maintaining a well-staffed, productive, and positive workplace culture in all our salon locations. In addition to recruitment and internal relations, the Senior HR Officer will oversee 
various human resources functions

excluding payroll
, which is managed by a separate department.

Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Oversight

  • Supervise and support the recruitment team in sourcing and hiring 
    nail technicians

    salon managers
    , and other key staff
  • Approve job postings, oversee screening and interviews, and ensure timely placement of candidates
  • Develop recruitment strategies to support business expansion and seasonal hiring needs
  • Ensure consistent onboarding procedures and legal compliance for all new hires
  • Ensure employee records are kept up to date and contract renewals and evaluations are managed sufficiently

Internal Relations Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, feedback, and conflict resolution
  • Promote open communication and foster a positive working environment across all branches
  • Lead internal investigations and coordinate disciplinary actions in line with company policy
  • Conduct stay interviews, employee satisfaction surveys, and exit interviews

General HR Oversight (Excluding Payroll)

  • Maintain up-to-date employee records, contracts, certifications, and evaluations
  • Monitor contract renewals, expirations, and performance review schedules
  • Ensure company policies are applied consistently and fairly across the organization
  • Oversee compliance with labor laws and workplace health and safety regulations
  • Assist in updating the employee handbook and conducting HR policy training sessions

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Design and implement initiatives to boost morale, engagement, and retention
  • Organize team-building events, recognition programs, and employee development workshops
  • Strengthen internal communications across all branches

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience
     in Human Resources, including recruitment and employee relations
  • At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory HR role
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, employment law, and best practices
  • Excellent communication, mediation, and leadership skills
  • Organized, proactive, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities
  • Tech-savvy and proficient in Google Workspace and HR documentation tools

Preferred:

  • Experience in the 
    beauty, salon, retail, or service
     industry
  • HR certifications (CHRP, PHR, or equivalent)
  • Willingness to visit salon branches when needed and travel as we have salons in Gauteng and Durban
