Talent Development Opportunity: Manager Protocols and Standards: Cold Chain

The successful candidates will be exposed to job shadowing in their home region when the Manager Protocols and Standards: Cold Chain conducts or attends meetings; stakeholder events; training or other projects and/tasks in the respective region. Provided that all minimum requirements are met; one (1) employee may be accommodated per region (1 Coastal WC, 1 Coastal EC, 1 Coastal KZN; 1 North, 1 South).

Development Experience:

The development experience will offer the opportunity to shadow in the following aspects of the role: 

• Maintenance of mandates, all relevant acts, regulations, work instructions and protocols & standards relating to cold chain.

• Train, coordinate and provide guidance on training personnel and managing risks within the cold chain environment

• To ensure that PPECB is adequately represented at operational technical forums and influence technical matters including special shipments (bilateral, directive and permits).

• To ensure cold chain business processes are benchmarked and aligned to international standards and best practices.

• Collaborate with business units and stakeholders in transitioning cold chain into the electronic environment.

Requirements:

The successful candidate is required to have the following qualifications and experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering/Agriculture and/or 15 years relevant experience with a Leadership Development Programme certificate 

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Management/ Supervisory/ Leadership position

• Knowledge, understanding and experience of all cold chain disciplines.

• Minimum of 15 years' experience in cold treatment protocols and Cold Chain disciplines

• Experience on the technical equipment utilized in the cold chain environment

• Financial Management experience

• Good presentation and facilitation skills 

• Strong leadership orientation

• Strong self-development orientation and drive 

• A history of strong, consistent work-performance and taking ownership enabled by responsible and accountable behaviour

• Positive attitude and a team player

• Excellent customer service skills

• PPECB Brand Ambassador

• Willingness to travel 

• A valid code 08 driving license and own reliable vehicle 

APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS:

Applications will be considered by means of a multiple-hurdle process; consisting of pre-screening of applications; formal interviews; followed by assessments for short-listed candidates. Formal developmental feedback will be provided to shortlisted, unsuccessful candidates, to assist them with their PDP's (Personal Development Plans).

The candidates with the strongest performance in the outlined process will be selected for the 4-year developmental initiative.

Please note: 

• During the period the talent development initiative will run, the successful candidate will be invited to participate in events in their home-region. Attendance will be dependent on operational requirements, whether their line managers can release them.

• It must be emphasised that most meetings relating to these responsibilities take place in the Western Cape; with ad hoc meetings in other regions. Therefore, successful candidates from other regions may be required to travel to the Western Cape if they have not received sufficient opportunity to participate in meetings related to the role in question in their home region. The participant will be assisted with travel cost in line with the relevant policy. 

• Candidates' performance will be assessed at the end of the period and serve as input to the Talent Management reviews for the talent pool.

• There will be no additional remuneration over and above what the successful candidate already earns.
