Your key job responsibilities as the Senior Sports Trader in Johannesburg will include:

  • Manage and adjust odds for horse racing events, with a strong emphasis on horse trading strategies to maximize profitability and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Analyze market trends, form guides, and statistical data to set and adjust prices, ensuring a balanced book across all types of horse trading and multi-sport events.
  • Monitor live horse racing and other sporting events, making informed, quick decisions based on performance, track conditions, and market shifts.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to effectively handle liabilities across markets and ensure optimal balance.
  • Develop and maintain strong networks within the horse racing community and beyond to enhance trading strategies and market positioning.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior traders, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring development in both retail and online trading contexts.
  • Utilize trading platforms and analytics tools to evaluate performance and implement innovative horse trading strategies, while being versatile in multi-sport management.
  • Contribute to optimizing the overall horse racing product offering, providing expert insights and suggestions for improvement.

Requirements for this Senior Sports Trader job in Johannesburg:

  • 7 to 12 years of experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on sports trading and a strong emphasis on horse racing.
  • Proven ability to run a book and balance risk effectively across multiple sports and events.
  • Strong understanding of both retail and online trading environments, with the ability to manage staff in both settings.
  • A good trader with a balanced skill set, able to adapt strategies across various sports while having a solid foundation in horse racing.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience using trading software and tools.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate with teams and guide junior traders.
