We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled
Plant Technician
to support the daily operational and maintenance activities of a renewable energy plant. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting the Plant Supervisor to ensure optimal performance, effective contractor management, and high standards of health, safety, and reporting across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the administration and organisation of contract documents and operational files.
  • Support the Plant Supervisor in understanding the root causes of equipment failures, identifying developing trends, and coordinating with OEMs and service providers to ensure timely and safe resolutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accessible records of all operations and maintenance activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of asset optimisation assessments and reports for stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing reporting support, including daily monitoring, performance analysis, availability and downtime assessments, and investigation of significant performance issues.
  • Assist in managing site data, ensuring accurate analysis and effective proactive monitoring.
  • Support site Health and Safety initiatives in collaboration with the Supervisor and Safety Officer.
  • Prepare monthly performance and operations reports within required deadlines.
  • Review service and maintenance records, highlighting issues for follow-up.
  • Assist with procurement activities, economic development functions, and coordination of statutory inspections, servicing schedules, and weekly site plans.
  • Help organise and facilitate site visits, ensuring professional engagement with stakeholders and visitors.
  • Coordinate meetings, including preparing agendas, meeting packs, presentations, correspondence, reports, and minutes.
  • Develop and maintain efficient electronic and hard-copy filing systems and provide general office and administrative support as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of site processes, systems, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of
    3 years' relevant experience
    , ideally within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Experience in renewable energy generation (advantageous).
  • National Diploma or equivalent technical qualification, preferably in
    Electrical Engineering
    .
  • Strong administrative, writing, and reporting abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in the
    MS Office Suite
    (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English; additional proficiency in Xhosa or Afrikaans is an advantage.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Strong organisational skills and willingness to undertake further training in wind farm operations and maintenance.
