We're hiring freelance Food Safety Auditors to conduct audits for food producers across South Africa and neighboring countries. This flexible role allows you to manage your own schedule, work independently, and even pursue consulting or training work alongside NSF assignments.

We're hiring in Western Cape, Gauteng, and Eastern Cape.

  • Responsibilities: Conduct audits for food producers in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland, and West/East Africa.
  • Review food safety modules and production/manufacturing processes.
  • Travel to audit sites, including overnight stays of up to 5 days during peak seasons.
  • Submit accurate audit logs and reports.

  • Collaborate with the scheduling team and maintain NSF's standards of excellence.

  • Qualifications: Degree or BTech in Food Technology, Food Science, or a bioscience-related field (e.g., Biotechnology, Microbiology) with food safety modules.

  • Minimum 3 years of post-graduation experience in food production or manufacturing.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Fresh Produce Pack House operations or food production.
  • HACCP training + exam (minimum 1 day).
  • Lead Auditor training (minimum 5 days).
  • Training and exam in either FSSC v6 or BRCGS issue 9.
  • Food Fraud and Food Defense training (4 hours each & exam).
  • Willingness to travel during peak audit seasons.
  • Valid travel documents and driver's license.
  • Minimum availability of 8 audit days per month.
  • Contactable references.
  • Copies of all qualifications and certificates must be in English.
  • Fluency in French, a plus.
  • Experience auditing scopes such as seafood, red meat, eggs, dairy, juices, fruit/vegetables, and chemical ingredients, a plus.
