Full-Stack Engineer (Django + ) – Koola Capital | Cape Town (Hybrid considered)

Koola Capital is a South African fintech startup giving township entrepreneurs fair access to funding through contract-based lending on WhatsApp. We're hiring a South African Full-Stack Engineer with a degree in Engineering or Computer Science from a recognised institution. You'll work directly with the CTO in a small, fast-moving team, taking ownership across backend, frontend, integrations, and AI-powered tools.

What you'll do

  • Ship features across Django APIs, Postgres models, and UIs.
  • Build internal tools for underwriting, compliance, and collections.
  • Own integrations (auth, retries, idempotency, alerting).
  • Design data flows and document ingestion pipelines.
  • Contribute to AI automation and internal assistants.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years with Python and Typescript experience ideally Django,
  • 3-5 years PostgreSQL experince amd working with databases.
  • Proven API integration experience.
  • South African citizen with a relevant degree.
  • Resourceful, independent, and delivery-focused.

Nice to have

  • Azure or OpenAI SDK experience.
  • Background in payments, reconciliations, or WhatsApp-based products.
  • OCR/document parsing, vector search, or LLM exposure.

Stack: Django 5, 15, React 19, Postgres 16, Azure, OpenAI SDK
