This role is critical to safeguarding group assets, ensuring regulatory adherence across all operational sites, and driving process optimisation across our diverse business units. You will move beyond mere compliance, taking ownership of designing, implementing, and monitoring a world-class control framework aligned with global standards (like COSO and ISO

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance the group-wide internal control framework, ensuring alignment with key governance standards and relevant industry legislation.
  • Evaluate and standardise control environments across critical functions, including Group Finance, Treasury, Supply Chain, and operational sites.
  • Proactively identify, document, and recommend mitigation strategies for key operational risks, particularly those related to site data integrity, production reporting, and asset valuation.
  • Lead control testing activities, including walkthroughs and operating effectiveness assessments, focusing on high-risk areas such as logistics and site-level asset management.
  • Act as the primary coordination point for internal audits, facilitating evidence collation and tracking the timely and effective remediation of identified findings across the group.
  • Develop and maintain clear, implementable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies that foster a culture of strong governance from Head Office down to site level.
  • Prepare high-level monthly and quarterly control assurance reports for executive committees, translating complex findings into actionable strategic recommendations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or Risk Management.
  • 3–7 years of demonstrable experience in internal controls, internal audit, or risk management, specifically within a large-scale operational or heavy industry setting.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of IFRS and group-level financial reporting structures.
  • Proven ability to apply risk management principles to complex operational processes.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIA, CISA, SAICA/SAIPA articles).
  • Direct experience working with major industry ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
