Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible collecting, analysing and interpreting complex healthcare data to support clinical, operational and strategic decision-making. The role requires strong technical expertise in SQL, data visualisation tools such as Power BI (or similar) and knowledge of clinical coding standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Extract, manipulate and analyse large datasets using SQL to support business and clinical requirements.
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI (or equivalent data visualisation tools) to support decision-making.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity and consistency of clinical and operational data through validation and quality checks.
  • Interpret and apply clinical coding standards (ICD, CPT, SNOMED or similar) in data analysis and reporting.
  • Identify trends, anomalies and insights to inform clinical and business decisions.
  • Collaborate with clinically qualified parties and business teams to define reporting needs, provide actionable insights and translate them into data solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data processes, systems and analytical methodologies.
  • Support strategic initiatives with data-driven insights.

Skills and Functional Requirements:

  • Advanced SQL programming (queries, stored procedures, optimisation).
  • Data visualisation using Power BI (preferred) or equivalent (Tableau, Qlik, Looker).
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of clinical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED CT, DRG).
  • Familiarity with relational databases and data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of healthcare informatics and clinical workflows.
  • Statistical analysis knowledge (R, Python, or SAS – advantageous).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Data Science, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Relevant post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical - and/or healthcare data analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills with proven ability to query, manipulate and manage complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Power BI (or similar visualisation/BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik).
  • Solid understanding of clinical coding standards and terminologies (ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED, or equivalent).
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical data insights into business/clinical language.
  • Experience working in a healthcare, clinical research or medical data environment.
