Introduction

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Customs QA Controller to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all customs-related processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of import/export documentation, tariff classifications, and customs procedures, combined with the curiosity and drive to continuously improve systems and uphold best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and validate customs entries, tariff codes, and declarations to ensure full compliance with SARS and other relevant authorities.

  • Conduct regular audits of customs documentation and procedures to identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.

  • Work closely with operations, clients, and customs officials to resolve queries and maintain a high level of data integrity.

  • Support internal training and knowledge sharing to improve compliance awareness across teams.

  • Monitor and report on compliance KPIs, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are tracked and implemented.

  • Stay informed on updates to customs legislation, rebate schedules, and international trade agreements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in customs processing, QA, or compliance within freight forwarding or trade.

  • Strong working knowledge of import/export documentation, HS codes, and customs valuation principles.

  • Experience with Cargowise or other customs management systems advantageous.

  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A relevant qualification in logistics, international trade, or customs compliance will be beneficial.
