Our client, a well-established and respected law firm based in Bellville, offering professional legal services across various sectors is on the hunt for an Litigation Associate Attorney, with a minimum of 3 – 4 years' experience to join their team. If you are looking for a practice offering the opportunity to train in a professional working environment with exposure to various aspects of law, then this is the perfect place for you. The successful candidate will assist the director in running the litigation department across insolvency law, commercial litigation and debt recoveries / collections, acting for a mix of corporate and high-net-worth clients.

Responsibilities:

Manage matters from instruction to finalisation in the High Court

Draft and settle pleadings, notices, affidavits, applications, heads of argument, and correspondence

Appear in motion and trial courts and brief and manage counsel where appropriate

Research and client opinions on procedure and merits

Manage file administration such as billing, time recording and diary

Education:

LLB & Admitted Attorney of the High Court with 3–4 years' post-admission experience

Right of Appearance in the High Court

Demonstrable experience in insolvency law, commercial litigation, and collections

Strong drafting skills

Proficiency with MS Office/365; comfortable with practice management and e-filing systems

Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Afrikaans & English)

Confident, energetic, and motivated

Confidentiality is very important

Meticulous attention to detail

Well spoken, presentable and an eagerness to learn

Hardworking Team player, work independently, positive attitude, enthusiastic, ability to multi-task and prioritize work, attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Excellent work ethic

Ability to deliver high quality work

Ability to demonstrate initiative and pro-activity
