Position overview

The primary responsibility will be as a coach and mentor supporting the professional growth and development of all teachers to enhance student learning through the promotion of effective practices. The coach will support the Leadership Team in promoting and supporting the strategic direction and to ensure thorough understanding of the pedagogy used in the school - both by staff and the community at large. The coach should be familiar with school structures and have a basic knowledge of the full range of age groups, PK- 12, to ensure a cohesive approach.  Familiarity with the school philosophy, vision, mission statement, core values, and strategic plan is essential

Qualifications:

The Teaching and Learning Coach should have:  

· Relevant teaching certification with a minimum of 5 years classroom experience  

· Leadership experience as either a team leader, coordinator, coach, or similar role  

· Ability to lead and to collaborate effectively, responding to the needs of others  

· Experience with effective and efficient instructional and assessment practices 

· Thorough understanding of and experience in using backwards design, Rubicon Atlas, and a variety of differentiation approaches 

· Experience in inquiry/concept-based learning and the ability to support its development 

· Experience in presenting and leading workshops on best practices to a diverse audience 

· Values a range of backgrounds and expertise  

· Deep understanding of the learning/socio-emotional needs of students 

· Appropriate and relevant current professional development in the above areas

Preferred skills and experience

· Master's Degree 

· International teaching, coaching, and/or leadership experience 

· Experience with, and understanding of, learner support needs including ELL 

· Extensive curriculum development experience 

· A familiarity with the IB-DP 

· Proven ability to work in a dynamic multi-cultural environment and at multiple levels 

· Recent and relevant professional development 

· Outstanding interpersonal skills including adaptability, flexibility, and acceptance of a level of ambiguity

Performance Responsibilities:

· Assist in the development and implementation of professional learning activities that supports the   

       school's strategic direction 

· Promote and support a strong instructional program throughout the school to enable students of all abilities,

       needs, and cultural backgrounds to progress 

· Coach, support, and mentor effective teaching and learning practices with all teachers  

· Coach and support teachers in the development of appropriate and authentic assessment activities to support   

       differentiated and integrated approaches 

· Support teachers in planning mechanisms to articulate differentiated and integrated practice, including data-driven

       decisions 

· Present to and communicate with a wide school audience as required 

· Assist with the development of curriculum and curricular materials 

· Other instructional related tasks as needed by the organization

Work Hours

7:10 am to 3:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.  

7:10 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday  

* Occasional evening/weekend presentations or support as needed
