Principal Road Safety Officer

The Western Cape Mobility Department, Western Cape Government, has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to improve road safety education in the Eden District with the aim of improving service delivery that is changing the behaviour of all road users, resulting in a reduction of road user fatalities, pedestrians in particular. The successful incumbent must be able to work under pressure, willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Education, Communication, Public Relations, Project Management and Social Science; A minimum of 1 year experience in a road safety management working environment or related fields.; A Valid (code B or higher) driving licence.

Key Performance AreasRender support with the planning and execution of road safety interventions in the Eden District; Accounting for progress and performance; Render support to achieve road safety targets in the Eden District in accordance with set standards to enhance service delivery; Competent stewardship.

RemunerationR R per annum (Salary level 8)

NotesShortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do a practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
