A specialist security technology company is seeking a Level 2 Engineer to support its

expanding presence in the South African market. This office-based role is located in the

Johannesburg West / Roodepoort region, within a professional business park

environment (exact address not disclosed).

This is an opportunity to become the regional technical point of contact for a global security

technology business, with long-term potential as the local operation grows.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Engineering

  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to distributors, installers, and system

users.

  • Perform diagnostics, remote troubleshooting, and advanced fault-finding across

electronic security systems.

  • Support Proof-of-Concept installations, commissioning, and occasional on-site visits.
  • Produce technical installation guides, system specifications, and integration

documentation.

  • Prepare clear technical briefs for engineering partners and installers.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

  • Deliver structured training sessions to installation partners and field engineers.
  • Produce training materials, technical guides, and competency documentation.

Sales & Pre-Sales Support

  • Assist the commercial team with product demonstrations and equipment preparation.
  • Contribute to solution design, project scoping, Bills of Materials, and tender

responses.

  • Participate in customer meetings to provide technical insights.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Liaise closely with the global engineering team for escalations, product knowledge,

and technical alignment.

  • Provide structured feedback from the field to inform product development.
  • Collaborate with the South African sales function while maintaining technical

independence.

Work Location & Travel

  • Office-based in Johannesburg West / Roodepoort region (general area only – no

client details disclosed).

  • Occasional travel to major centres such as Cape Town and Durban (approx. six trips

per year).

  • Periodic site visits within Gauteng as required.

Essential Skills & Experience
Technical Background

  • Strong understanding of electronic security systems, including low-voltage switching

and control circuitry.

  • Hands-on experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion systems, and VMS

platforms.

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, system schematics, and site plans.
  • Practical electronics knowledge, including board layouts, I/O logic, and fault

diagnosis.

  • Basic IP networking capability (DHCP, addressing, switching).
  • CAD experience is a bonus.

  • Confident and professional when interacting with customers, installers, and technical

partners.

  • Strong communication skills, particularly in technical training and presentations.
  • Able to support demonstrations and assist commercial engagements.

  • Comfortable being the sole technical representative in the region initially.

Qualifications

  • N6 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
  • National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • BTech or BEngTech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (advantageous).
  • Experience in CCTV, access control, intrusion, or related security fields.
