The Finance Manager is responsible for the overall financial management and reporting of the group, actively contributing to strategic growth. This role ensures financial control of commercial operations, supports decision-making through financial analysis, and drives performance across all business functions. The Finance Manager partners closely with senior management to align financial strategies with operational goals, risk management, and long-term sustainability.

KEY TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support business growth.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning processes.
  • Conduct risk analysis and provide recommendations to mitigate financial exposure.
  • Provide insights for capital investment, pricing decisions, and potential acquisitions/disposals.
  • Monitor profitability, cost control, and operational efficiency across all business units.

2.Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed monthly.
  • Assist with year-end financial statements and audit preparations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory financial requirements (tax, reporting standards).
  • Provide clear financial insights and guidance to management and the board.

3.Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and other key departments to drive financial performance.
  • Resolve finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support decision-making by interpreting financial information for non-financial managers.

4.Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build high performance and accountability.
  • Manage performance, coaching, succession planning, and career development for all direct reports.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and integrity.

5.Technical and Systems Management

  • Manage financial systems and reporting tools.
  • Ensure accurate financial analysis using advanced Excel and BI tools.
  • Oversee taxation reporting, and franchisee invoicing (where applicable).

BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATION

  • Education:
    Qualified
    CA(SA)
    and registered with
    SAICA
    .
  • Experience:
    5–7 years' experience in a Finance Manager role.
  • Industry Exposure:
    Retail, FMCG, or related commercial environment preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Attributes:
    Detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven with strong business acumen.
