We're recruiting on behalf of a client who is looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering in Renewable Energy to join their team in Cape Town.

Lead the engineering team, manage the engineering budget, contribute to the improvement of products and provide strategic input to assist MANCO and EXCO in making appropriate business decisions.
 
Education:
  • BEng Electrical Engineering
  • 3 Phase Trade Test and Wireman's License
 
Job Experience & Skills Required:
  • Minimum 9 years of experience in solar power manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership position
  • Strong knowledge of Helioscope, PVSyst, PV Sol, and AutoCAD
  • Designing and modelling storage and micro-grid solutions
  • Planning and developing applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems, in order to improve technical performance
  • Attending/presenting at conferences/events
  • Networking with relevant industry stakeholders
  • Keeping on top of what's going on in the market (regulatory changes, large tenders, and shifts in typical business models)
  • Monitoring competition, economic indicators, and industry trends
  • Communicating the goals of the company to all Engineers and professionals in the team
  • Delegating tasks to engineering team members
  • Supervising staff training as well as equipment installation
  • Performing quality control checks on all systems and products
  • Developing maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment
  • Participating in MANCO and EXCO
  • Providing strategic input
  • Conducting performance appraisals
  • Regularly providing constructive feedback to team members
  • Supervising every phase of the project from start to completion
