Overview of Duties:

AHRI is looking for dynamic Clinical Research Assistant Supervisor who will be based at our King Cetshwayo District. The successful candidate will work for the ATTIS study that will be conducted at the King Cetshwayo District. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for overseeing the recruitment and retention of participants for the study and oversee the household visits done by the team. The candidate will need to have the understand of the systems like Redcap.

The incumbent will be expected to assist with schedule of participants, ensure that all the Clinical Research Assistants (CRAs) are trained on all the necessary training and prepare their documents for the study. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that the CRA's are following procedures according to study protocols and ensure that they provide high quality clinical support to participants and other clients.

The successful candidate rove across the KCD where the household recruitment will be done, he/she will do this on regular basis unless advised otherwise by the Line Manager, and they will also be required to attend all the studies meetings and report on the progress of recruitment and retention. The role will require someone who can form relationships with different departments within AHRI (i.e. CRD, PE, PIP) and outside of AHRI (i.e. DOH, schools, communities) to identify recruitment hotspots for the project. The role may require incumbent to work outside of normal hours, Public Holidays & Weekend as and when required by the study especially for follow-ups of the study participants or when necessary.

Overview of duties

  • Supervise a team of Clinical Research Assistants.
  • Implement and oversee the ATTIS protocol.
  • Recruit participants from the community/household and refer them to the clinic when required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders where participants will be recruited.
  • Collection and capturing of data.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by Line Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Senior certificate (Grade 12) and post matriculation qualification.
  • Must Possess a valid South African Code C1 driver's license (will be required to take PDP driver's license test).
  • Resident and a member of a homestead from within the King Cetshwayo District (Preferred).

Minimum Experience

  • A minimum 2-year research experience in a clinical setting (community, hospital/clinic-based research).
  • Clinical research experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience in TB/HIV/NCDs treatment and care.

Skills Required

  • Basic counselling and interviewing skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and isiZulu.
  • Computer Literacy Certification (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Redcap, ESS).
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, flexible and a good team player.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Well organized and possession of the ability to plan effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details.
