Cutting Room Supervisor

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for overseeing the cutting department and ensuring the precise cutting of fabrics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute precise cutting of fabric according to specified patterns, measurements, and design requirements.
• Supervise and provide guidance to the team of cutters, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to production schedules and scores.
• Ensure cut sheets and other relevant documents are in order and updated timeously.
• Maintain high standards of quality by inspecting cut pieces for defects and ensuring accuracy in dimensions.
• Manage and track fabric inventory, ensuring materials are readily available for production.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of cutting machinery to ensure safety and optimal performance.
• Enforce safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
• Train new employees in cutting techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with other departments, sewing, and quality control, to ensure the smooth flow of production.
• Escalate and communicate any challenges to the production manager.
• Monitor and control cutting department expenses, seeking opportunities for cost-saving measures.
• Maintain accurate records and reports related to production, inventory, and quality control.
• Follow all safety and quality procedures and standards.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Any other duties that may be delegated by the relevant manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Grade 12 Senior Certificate
• Proven experience as a Cloth Cutter or similar role
• Knowledge of different fabrics and their cutting requirements
• Ability to read and understand technical patterns and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and precision
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure
