Senior Platform Engineer

• Who we're looking for: A Senior Platform Engineer with AWS & Kubernetes experience, and a strong curiosity to learn new tools

• The challenge: You will make significant contributions to the Tillo platform - designing and building infrastructure, systems and processes that empower our development teams to deploy and manage their applications with efficiency and autonomy.

• Where you'll work: This role will be based in Cape Town, you'll be part of our global team, collaborating with colleagues and serving customers across the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, and beyond. Our hybrid approach offers flexibility with regular team connection in our Cape Town office.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will

• Design and build scalable, reliable, and secure solutions in AWS

• Manage our container orchestration solution (Kubernetes / EKS)

• Improve the developer experience and facilitate self-service for development teams

• Improve observability and disaster recovery capabilities across the platform

• Collaborate with development teams and promote a DevOps mindset

• Provide training and support to other engineers with regard to platform best practices

• Create and maintain high-quality documentation

What we're looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with

• Experience of running production workloads in AWS

• Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm, with a track record of deploying and running containerised applications in production

• Proficiency in at least one of Typescript, Python, Go

• Experience writing Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi or Terraform)

• Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and applications

• Solid understanding of software and systems architecture

• Solid understanding of platform engineering concepts - automation, developer experience, observability, reliability, scalability, and security

• Technical curiosity and a passion for sharing knowledge - thrive on coaching and cross‑team collaboration

And it's not essential, but we'd love to hear about it if you have experience with

• Azure and SQL Server

• Linux and Bash

• Serverless and Event Driven Architectures

• PHP or .Net ecosystems
