Position: Project Planner/Scheduler – Zambia
- Role Summary
We are looking for a qualified and experienced Project Planner/Scheduler to join our
engineering and project management team. The successful candidate will be based at the
Head Office in Zambia and will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and controlling
project schedules across various engineering and construction projects within the mining
sector. The Planner will ensure effective planning, progress tracking, and cost control
through all phases of project execution.
- Work Schedule and Conditions
• Rotation: 9 weeks on duty, followed by 3 weeks off.
• Base of Operation: Zambia
• Site and Client Visits: Required for project progress updates, coordination, and tender
evaluations.
• Accommodation: Provided by employer.
• Meals: Employee to provide own meals.
• Transport: Provided by employer for all business-related travel.
- Key Responsibilities
The Project Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for the following duties:
• Develop comprehensive Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for each project and tender.
• Prepare detailed project schedules from high-level milestones down to specific task
activities.
• Perform resource loading and allocation for manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Draft and assist with project-specific construction method statements in collaboration
with engineering and site teams.
• Develop comprehensive cost models and costing sheets aligned with client BOQs and
project budgets.
• Capture and update daily reports from site managers to maintain accurate project
progress data.
• Maintain organized filing and structuring of all project documentation.
• Implement and manage Earned Value Management (EVM) systems integrating cost,
schedule, and scope performance.
• Ensure adherence to company quality control and project management standards.
• Attend client and project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured against the following criteria:
• Timely development and maintenance of project schedules.
• Accuracy and consistency of WBS and cost models.
• Effective integration of planning, cost control, and reporting.
• Quality and completeness of method statements and progress reports.
• Compliance with project timelines and resource plans.
• Contribution to continuous improvement in project control processes.
- Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and background:
• Degree or diploma in Project Management, Engineering, or Construction Management (or
equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in project planning and scheduling within the mining or
construction industry.
• Proven experience in turnkey projects, covering design, civil, structural, mechanical,
piping (SMP), and electrical & instrumentation (E&I) disciplines.
• Strong understanding of project approval processes, design office operations, and
documentation control.
• Background in quality control and compliance management.
• Ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings and project documentation.

- Remuneration and Benefits
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Accommodation
and transport for business purposes will be provided by the employer. The employee will
