Malander is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to manage payroll for approximately 500 employees across the UK market. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing finance team within a professional and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be UK based.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end UK payroll process for around 500 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, review variances, and prepare payroll journals for month-end reporting.
  • Ensure PAYE, NIC, pension, and other statutory deductions are processed and submitted correctly and on time.
  • Maintain and update employee data, contracts, and salary changes in payroll systems.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to support employee onboarding, benefits administration, and payroll adjustments.
  • Handle payroll queries efficiently, providing accurate information and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist with annual audits and provide payroll-related information as required.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with UK employment law and tax changes affecting payroll operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing payroll for medium to large employee bases.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax, and pension regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and advanced Excel.
  • Accounting qualification or strong finance background advantageous.
