Are you a skilled, hands-on
Lift Technician
, fluent in Afrikaans, with the expertise to keep industrial and commercial elevators and escalators running at their best?

Who are you:

  • Trade qualified
    – Red Seal or N6 (preferably in Electrical, Millwright, Mechanical Fitting, or Lift Mechanic).
  • Fluent in
    Afrikaans
    (requirement, as the company language is Dutch).
  • Proven experience in
    maintenance, repair, and servicing of elevators and escalators
    .

Experience with well-known brands such as:

  • Otis
  • KONE
  • Schindler
  • ThyssenKrupp
  • Orona
  • Mitsubishi Electric
  • Strong
    electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting
    skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude for working with gears, pulleys, hydraulics, and traction systems.
  • Familiarity with
    safety regulations and lift compliance standards
    .
  • Experience with
    industrial and commercial building systems
    .
  • Ability to read
    technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
    .
  • 1–4 years of relevant working experience.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for
planned preventative maintenance
and
reactive repairs
on a wide range of elevators and escalators, including:

  • Traction lifts
    (gearless and geared systems).
  • Hydraulic lifts
    for low-rise buildings.
  • Machine-room-less (MRL) systems
    .
  • Heavy-duty freight lifts
    for industrial use.
  • Public-access escalators and moving walkways
    .

Typical maintenance tasks include:

  • Lubricating moving parts and adjusting mechanical clearances.
  • Inspecting and replacing worn cables, sheaves, and rollers.
  • Testing safety systems (emergency brakes, door interlocks, overload sensors).
  • Adjusting door operators and control relays.
  • Troubleshooting drive systems, control boards, and wiring faults.
  • Performing load tests and speed regulation checks.
  • Cleaning and aligning guide rails.
  • Software updates for modern lift control systems.

What do we offer?

Contract wise:

  • 2-year contract of 40 hours per week.
  • 25 paid holidays a year (+ potential ADV days).
  • Public holidays, with a maximum of 7 per year, which are paid by Xelvin.
  • Holiday allowance of
    8.33%
    (instead of 8.0%) over your total gross annual income. Paid each year in May.
  • Overtime and shift allowance will be paid by Xelvin accordingly.
  • Travel allowance of €0,23 per km for commuting to work and back home.
  • Salary range:
    €3,500 – €4,200 gross per month
