A well-known and multiple award-winning Estate is looking for a knowledgeable Host. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of their exceptional dining experience, ensuring a seamless and memorable visit from the moment guests arrive. If you would like to enter an exquisite world of luxury, art, and fine dining, this might be the role for you.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a fixed-term contract. 

Candidate requirements: 
  • Grade 12, hospitality certificate will be a plus
  • 1- 2 years of previous hostess experience in a high-end, fine-dining environment
  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette
  • Experience in managing reservations
  • Able to work in a team
  • Demonstrable exceptional customer-service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area
  • Availability to work within opening hours (e.g. evenings, public holidays, weekends)
  • Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift
  • Comfortable in dealing with very distinguished clientele
  • Able to handle a high-pressure environment
  • Must be well-presented and have an enthusiastic personality
  • Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this  Stellenbosch location for all scheduled shifts
Candidate responsibilities: 
  • Welcome guests to the venue
  • Escort guests to assigned dining or bar areas
  • Manager reservations
  • Provide menus and announce waiter/waitress name
  • Greet guests upon their departure
  • Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
  • Maintain hostess desk clean and tidy
  • Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly)
  • Answer incoming calls and address guests' queries
  • Assist with wait staff as needed
