Document Controller

PRDW is seeking an experienced Document Controller to manage and maintain project documentation across multi-disciplinary engineering projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all documents are accurately controlled, updated, and distributed in compliance with company standards and client requirements. This role is an office-based role in our Cape Town office.

The role consists of the following key responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain document control procedures for engineering projects across all phases (conceptual, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning).
  • Manage electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Create and maintain document registers, transmittals, and distribution matrices.
  • Ensure timely issuance of drawings and documents to clients, contractors, and internal teams, verifying that the latest revisions are distributed.
  • Coordinate document reviews, approvals, and workflows in EPCM and EPC environments.
  • Assist project teams with document formatting, templates, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Archive and retrieve historical project documentation efficiently.
  • Train and support team members on document control processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for document-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 and a relevant qualification in administration, information management or engineering support.
  • 5+ years of experience in document control within engineering or construction projects.
  • Proven document management experience in EPCM and EPC project environments.
  • Proficiency in electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Strong understanding of document revision control principles.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with SharePoint or similar platforms.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of engineering terminology and deliverables (drawings, specifications, vendor data).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity and commitment to confidentiality and compliance.
