Role Purpose

This role involves the implementation and monitoring of risk and compliance processes, procedures and controls within the Momentum Retail Risk and Compliance team partnering mostly with Momentum Financial Planning (MFP). You will be required to handle the monitoring of control measures implemented to comply with regulatory requirements within MFP. The role includes (amongst others) conducting compliance audits, fit and proper reviews and investigations, reporting and making recommendations on monitoring activities.

Requirements

Skills, Experience and Education Requirements:

• Approved and listed FAIS recognised Compliance Officer qualification; or studying towards one

• Regulatory Exam for Key Individuals and Compliance Officers (RE1) or studying towards completing the RE1 will be advantageous

• Knowledge of the Financial Services Industry

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient on a computer, specifically on using Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word

• Excellent administrative and organisational skills

• Ability to work independently as well as part of the bigger Risk, Compliance and MFP teams

• Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships

• A hard worker who is deadline driven

• Resilient and adaptable

• Confident, decisive, proactive, motivated and accurate

• Valid driver's licence

• Own vehicle/transport (will be required to travel to MFP Branches and/or Financial Adviser Offices to conduct in person compliance monitoring reviews when applicable)

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identifying and risk rating a regulatory universe.

• Monitoring compliance with legislation, specifically (but not limited to) the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act, Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), Financial Sector Regulation (FSR) Act, Conduct of Financial Institutions (COFI) Bill and internal business processes, Practice Notes and requirements.

• Assist with drafting and maintenance of applicable Compliance Risk Management Programs (CRMPs).

• Drafting monthly and quarterly compliance monitoring reports.

• Assist with the proper establishment and maintenance of procedures on the identification, reporting and resolution of compliance breaches and other compliance and regulatory matters identified during monitoring reviews.

• Conduct audit reviews of relevant compliance records, processes and systems.

• Advise on and review the implementation of mitigating control measures where applicable.

• Following up on any outstanding non-compliant matters pertaining to reported findings.

• Registration and updates of FAIS representatives on the central database of the Financial Services Conduct Authority.

• Monitor FAIS fit and proper competence of authorised Key Individuals and representatives.

• Draft and assist with regulatory reports and ad hoc regulatory requests where applicable.

• Liaise with MFP Stakeholders and Financial Advisers to ensure compliant behaviour.

• Handle Stakeholder queries and complaints in an efficient manner.
