Job description
An Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting the accounting and finance team by
managing routine financial tasks and maintaining accurate financial records. This position
requires attention to detail, basic accounting knowledge, and proficiency in financial
software and office tools.
Salary: R8 000
Responsibilities
Data Entry
• Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting software (QuickBooks).
• Maintain up-to-date and organized financial records.
Invoice Processing
• Prepare, review, and process supplier and customer invoices.
• Match purchase orders and receipts with invoices for accuracy.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Record and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
Bank Reconciliations
• Reconcile weekly bank statements with internal records.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Payroll Assistance
• Support payroll processing and maintain payroll records as required.
• Process staff reimbursements and employee expense claims.
Filing and Record keeping
• Maintain organized and secure files for all financial documents.
• Ensure compliance with document retention and confidentiality standards.
Assistance with Audits
• Prepare necessary documents and assist in internal and external audits.Vendor and Client Communication
• Respond to inquiries regarding billing and payments.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve discrepancies.
Financial Reporting
• Generate and prepare basic financial reports as needed.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes.
General Office Support
• Assist accounting staff with ad-hoc duties as required.
• Perform general administrative functions such as copying, scanning, and filing.

Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and procedures
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and general office applications
• Good organizational and time management abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skill
Qualifications
Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Financial Management or related studies
• 1 + years in a similar role
