An established non-profit organisation is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Finance Administrator to provide vital administrative support across Finance and Human Resources. This is a two-year fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to work in a purpose-driven environment focused on organisational excellence and positive community impact. Reporting to the Head of Legal and Risk, the Finance and HR Administrator will assist with daily finance and HR operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance, and smooth internal processes. This role is ideal for an organised individual who thrives in a collaborative, professional, and values-based setting.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or degree in administration, finance, accounting, or a related field (HR qualification not required, but beneficial).
  • At least 2 years' administrative experience, ideally with exposure to financial or compliance administration.
  • Experience in an NGO/NPO environment is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's licence and comfortable driving independently.
Financial Administration (Primary Focus)
  • Process invoices, receipts, reimbursements, payment packs, and other financial documentation with high accuracy.
  • Maintain and improve financial filing systems and records.
  • Support monthly financial reconciliations and payment pack preparation.
  • Capture and code transactions in accounting software with attention to detail.
  • Assist in budget preparation, expenditure tracking, and variance checks.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and track insurance schedules/renewals.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and partners on financial queries.
  • Support governance processes by ensuring timely and accurate financial data management.
HR Administration (Secondary Focus)
  • Maintain HR files and employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Support payroll preparation by coordinating inputs and verifying accuracy.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding logistics (documents, checklists, access control).
  • Track leave, timesheets, and HR-related compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with external HR consultants where required.
  • Provide administrative relief to the Head of Legal and Risk by managing routine HR documentation (not strategic HR decision-making).
General Administrative Support
  • Support organisational compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with travel expense reconciliations, staff claims, and documentation checks.
  • Provide clerical, scheduling, and administrative support as needed.
  • Work with the Office Administrator and Executive Support to maintain compliance tracking and documentation.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong financial literacy with comfort working with spreadsheets and numerical data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Critical thinker with strong logical analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential).
  • Willingness to learn and work with financial and HR systems.
  • Professional, service-oriented mindset with positive teamwork skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and aligned with SST's mission.
  • Eligible to work in South Africa.
