This is a fantastic opportunity for a SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER to gain expertise in ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND FIXED INCOME SYSTEMS, by joining an established INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT COMPANY.

Based in CAPE TOWN (hybrid), this SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER role offers a salary of R1.2m – R1.5m.

The company offers a hybrid work policy, meaning 3 days/week in office and 2 days/week working from home.

THE ROLE:

As a SENIOR DEVELOPER you will work across both of the company's Asset Management and Fixed Income divisions – gaining expertise across both domains.

This is a unique opportunity to become a central technical resource within a successful investment house - building, integrating, and optimising the systems that drive real-world investment decisions.

In the role you won't be building abstract features for distant users. The systems you develop, and support will be used daily by fund managers, analysts, traders, advisors, and operations teams, directly influencing investment decisions and client outcomes.

Because the role spans two divisions, you gain insight into: Asset Management workflows, Fixed Income trading and attribution, Regulatory reporting, Portfolio systems & data architecture, and Data warehouse integrations. This breadth offers exceptional career development for someone who wants to deepen their understanding of the investment domain.

Day-to-day you'll work on everything from .NET backend services, Angular UI, automated integrations, daily data pipelines, and reporting dashboards, all the way to diagnosing mission-critical production issues.

You'll be treated as the technical owner of many systems. You'll influence architecture, improve processes, introduce efficiencies, and help guide the company's technology direction over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build and maintain backend services in .NET Core 8 & C#

Enhance dynamic frontends using Angular 17 (DevExtreme desirable).

Develop dashboards and reporting tools used across investment teams.

Implement CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.

Engineer robust API, ETL and file-based integrations.

Maintain parser jobs, data feeds, and daily SQL pipelines.

Ensure accurate ingestion of external sources (Reuters, JSE, ASISA, fund allocations, issuer limits).

Drive enhancements to internal Data Warehouse integrations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

C# / .NET Core (v8) - strong backend capability.

Angular 2+ (v17) frontend experience.

Python scripting for automation and integration (desirable but not essential).

Strong SQL proficiency.

Reporting tools (Stimulsoft/Excel; PowerBI nice-to-have).

Azure DevOps CI/CD experience.

Understanding of secure API design and data handling.

Bonus (but not essential): DevExtreme, financial instruments knowledge, regulatory reporting (SARB), testing frameworks.
