Quality Assurance Officer

The main purpose of the role is to ensure products and services meet company and regulatory quality standards through inspections, testing, training and monitoring.

JOB PURPOSE:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Quality control. Testing of products. Reporting. Training. SHEQ Integrated Management System control.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALITY CONTROL

• Manage the quality log for the company by analysing customer complaints and returns to identify recurring quality issues.

• Investigate and identify each quality related issue and resolve it by taking corrective action and preventative action. Discuss the outcome with the relevant branches.

• Containers for aluminium to be checked all colours against swatches.

• Spot checks to be done on wall thickness and micron levels.

• Aluminium stock to be checked to confirm imported products matches local stock colours against swatches.

• Inspect new products received from suppliers to ensure conformance with approved specifications

• Inspect incoming goods from powder coaters to ensure conformance to colour codes and specifications.

• Batch inspections for powder coaters prior to dispatching.

• Batch inspection on hardware, cladding and flyscreen products.

• Identify and implement improvement to handling of material and packaging to reduce damages.

• Ensure all packaging meets company standards and comply with quality plans.

• Ensure documented quality checks are completed on each shipment and review accordingly.

• Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated.

• Raise any quality related Non-Conformance with the relevant suppliers and ensure compliance.

TESTING OF PRODUCTS

• All hardware products to be tested in cycle determined by National Operations.

• Stainless steel products to be tested in salt spray machine in conjunction with the Technical Department.

• All generic systems to be tested with AAMSA in a 5-year cycle in conjunction with the Technical Department.

• All custodian systems to be tested with AAMSA in a 5-year cycle in conjunction with the Technical Department.

• All Aliplast systems to be tested with AAMSA in a 5- year cycle in conjunction with the Technical Department.

TRAINING

• All staff to be trained in a monthly basis on products and codes.

• External and internal sales representatives to be trained on new products.

• All warehouse staff to be trained on how to pack stock away.

REPORTING

• Retain Document Information as required by Legal and Statutory requirements.

• Monthly reporting on tested products.

• Monthly reporting on completed staff training.

• Monthly reporting on Non-Conforming products and corrective action.

SHEQ INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM CONTROL Ensure adherence to the OHS Act.

§ Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves of other persons.

§ Co-operate with the employer to enable prescribed duties or requirements to be complied with.

§ Carry out any lawful order given and obey the health and safety rules and procedures.

§ Report any unsafe or unhealthy situation to the employer.

§ Report any incident to the employer.

§ Comply with health and safety processes. Ensure the warehouse maintains and complies with standards of health and safety, and hygiene always.

§ Always maintain high standards of housekeeping.

§ Ensure PPE is always worn in the warehouse. Participate in any Integrated Management System activities as required. Identify and report opportunities for improvement, Non-Conformances, and Incidents in area of responsibility. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. Always maintain a high level of customer service levels standards.

QUALIFICATIONS Grade 12 or equivalent. 1 to 3 Years Diploma in the respective field.

EXPERIENCE Prior experience in fabrication and or sales experience within the aluminium industry or similar.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS Understanding of aluminium hardware and sections. How they are fabricated Awareness and understanding of the ISO Standard requirements relevant to the position. Understand how the hardware and aluminium fit into Bizman 8 to 10 Years experience within the aluminium industry.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS Computer literacy with Proficiency in MS Excel at an intermediate level. Proficient in SAGE / Pastel at an intermediate level. Outstanding problem-solving skills, with the ability to address unexpected challenges and finding suitable solutions to issues. Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
