GRSA Services (PTY) Ltd based in Cape Town is offering an opportunity for a Reserving Actuary - 12 Month Contract in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

This role is based in Cape Town but will be supporting the UK valuation team with financial and capital reporting requirements by performing several key steps in the valuation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with financial reporting and calculation of reserves.
  • Ongoing analysis of the inforce portfolio.
  • Development of financial forecasts for internal reporting purposes.
  • Production of additional financial information for management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working in an insurer or reinsurer will be an advantage.
  • Newly qualified actuary or good progress with actuarial exams.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Consistent pursuit of excellence in execution and delivery.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Office, SQL Server, working with large datasets).
  • Coding skills in VBA, SQL, R or other statistical coding environments is desirable.
  • Able to work under pressure in meeting internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of LDTI and Solvency II will be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, deal with people at all levels and in all areas of the business.
  • Must display client focus, creativity, intuition, integrity, decisiveness, collaboration, accountability and be prepared to represent Gen Re with professionalism.
