We work with communities, schools, and partners to drive environmental sustainability, promote inclusive economic participation, and build resilient livelihoods through education, enterprise development, and advocacy.

Kwedu Initiatives is seeking to appoint
two (2) Board Members
to serve in a
voluntary capacity
on its
Board of Directors and Subcommittees
. The ideal candidates will share our vision for a sustainable, inclusive future and provide strategic leadership to strengthen governance, impact, and long-term growth.

Role Purpose

Board Members act as custodians of Kwedu Initiatives' mission and values. They provide strategic oversight
, guide
policy and governance
, support
resource mobilization
, and uphold the organization's integrity and accountability.

Time Commitment

  • The Board meets
    four (4) times per year
    , typically every quarter.
  • Subcommittees
    (Finance, Governance, or Fundraising) meet
    2–4 times per year
    as required.
  • Members should allow at least
    1–2 hours of preparation
    per meeting (reviewing reports, proposals, etc.).
  • Participation can be
    in person or virtual
    .

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve Kwedu's annual strategic objectives and plans.
  • Monitor progress toward achieving program and organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with the NPC's constitution, governance standards, and financial integrity.
  • Provide guidance to the Executive Director and management team.
  • Participate in at least one subcommittee (e.g., Finance & Risk, Fundraising & Partnerships, Sustainability & Innovation).
  • Act as an ambassador to promote Kwedu Initiatives' work to potential donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Exercise independent judgement, transparency, and accountability in all decisions.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We welcome professionals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance & Risk Management
    – oversight of budgets, audits, and compliance.
  • Fundraising & Partnerships
    – strategy, donor relations, and proposal development.
  • Strategic Communications
    – brand, media, advocacy, or public engagement.
  • Governance & Policy
    – board or executive-level experience in NGOs or relevant sectors.
  • Sustainability & Green Innovation
    – environmental management, renewable energy, or circular economy experience.

Previous board or leadership experience in non-profits, public institutions, or social enterprises is advantageous but not mandatory.
