Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Practitioner based in the City of Johannesburg. The The appointed service provider will be required to perform the following tasks:


• Site Assessment and Data Collection: Conduct physical inspections of all qualifying College buildings. Verify Gross Floor Area (GFA) and occupancy classification

in accordance with SANS 10400-XA and SANS 1544. Collect and validate 12 months of historical energy consumption data (electricity and/or fuel). Record details of

lighting, HVAC, equipment, and operating patterns. Identify building boundaries and functional zones for EPC determination.


• Energy Performance Analysis: Calculate the Energy Use Intensity (EUI) in kWh/m2 per annum for each qualifying building. Determine the energy performance rating

(A-G) as per SANS 1544: Energy Performance Certificates for Buildings. Document assumptions, data sources, and analysis methodology.


• Certification and Submission: Compile EPC applications and supporting documentation for submission to SANEDI. Engage with SANEDI for review, verification, and

approval. Obtain and deliver official EPC certificates (electronic & printed A3 laminated copies). Display EPCs at each campus in compliance with legislative

requirements.


• Reporting: Prepare a comprehensive report for each campus (including the Energy use summary and performance rating per building & Recommendations for efficiency

improvements & Copies of supporting data and SANEDI correspondence). Submit all documents (data, reports, and certificates) in both print and electronic formats.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Energy Management and Energy Auditing
  • Qualified EPC Practitioner with at least more than 10 EPC's issued for single and multi occupancy buildings
  • Skilled in assessing building plans using excel and pdf tools
  • Proficient in general energy auditing practices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a hybrid work environment
  • Experience in green technology or sustainability projects is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Renewable Energy or related field
