Job Purpose

Responsibilities

Portfolio Vision and Strategy
Define the portfolio vision and objectives in alignment with enterprise goals. Continuously refine and communicate the strategy to stakeholders and agile teams. Create and maintain the portfolio roadmap that reflects near-term (6-12 Months)and long-term (2-3 Years) objectives. Align value streams and program increments with business priorities.
Portfolio Vision and Strategy
Collaborate with LPM functions to define and manage portfolio epics and ensure proper prioritisation. Optimise portfolio flow by managing the Kanban system and ensure alignment with strategic themes and investment guardrails. Develop and manage flexible roadmaps that align with the organisation's goals and customer needs. Reinforce SAFe's core values across the organisation, including alignment, transparency, respect for people, and relentless improvement.
Agile Backlog Management
Manage the Portfolio Backlog, ensuring high-value epics and initiatives are prioritised. Facilitate Epic Owners in creating Lean Business Cases. Manage the backlog and ensure it is well-defined, refined, and prioritised. Work with Agile releases to prioritise features and capabilities based on customer needs, business objectives, and technical considerations.
Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary liaison between business owners, solution architects, and delivery teams. Drive stakeholder alignment through workshops, periodic reviews, and presentations. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between various roles, including business owners, system architects, release train engineers, and Agile Teams. Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including business owners, leadership, system architects, release engineers, Agile Teams, Product Owners, and customers.
Project Benefit Realization
Define KPIs to measure portfolio performance and outcomes. Continuously assess portfolio health using flow, customer satisfaction, and business value metrics. Ensure that the product strategy and development efforts are aligned with business objectives. Provide guidance and direction to teams to focus on delivering value to customers and the business. Ensure that solutions meet a wide range of customer needs by designing 'whole solutions' from the customer's perspective. Work with other business leaders to define and measure the value of solutions within the organisation's context.
Innovation Implementation and Pipeline Management
Develop a clear and compelling product strategy with the business owners that aligns with the overall business objectives and portfolio vision. Communicate these to various stakeholders, and agile development teams. Align the product strategy with the portfolio's strategic themes and ensure that the product development efforts encourage innovation.
Leadership and Direction
Continuously refine and communicate the product vision to the Agile teams and other stakeholders.
Horizon Scanning
Ensure ROI and business cases are available as an input into prioritisation. Support financial reviews and ensure alignment of expected business returns are optimally planned in delivery. Prioritise features and capabilities in collaboration with key stakeholders such as business owners, system architects, and engineers.
Agile Release Planning
Formulate the PI plan and present the product vision and prioritised features. Ensure that the product development process is integrated with continuous delivery pipelines, allowing for the release of value on-demand when it is optimal for the business.
Personal Capability Building
Stay updated with market trends and customer needs to continuously improve the product.
Research
Identify what customers want from a product and what the organisation needs in return, ensuring a mutually beneficial value exchange.
Performance Management
Ensure coordination between customers and stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met, and that the product delivers the expected value.

Education

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Computer Science, or a related field (Essential); SAFe certifications (e.g.SAFe 5/6 Portfolio Management, SAFe Program Consultant - SPC) (Advantageous); Agile certifications (e.g., PMP-ACP, Scrum Master, or equivalent) (Advantageous)

Experience

7–10 years of experience in product management, portfolio management, or related roles (Essential); 3–5 years working in a SAFe or Agile environment (Essential); Experience in enterprise-level projects or programs within industries like IT, finance, Insurance (Essential); Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, value realisation, and stakeholder engagement and delivering business outcomes (Essential); 3 or more years leadership experience (Essential)Think you have what it takes to be part of an unstoppable team who constantly finds better ways to give peace of mind?
