Position Overview:

We are seeking an engaging and dedicated Lecturer to deliver high-quality instruction and support student learning and development within their field of study. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, conducting assessments, and fostering an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic learning environment.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Lecturer will contribute to curriculum development, remain current with advancements in their academic discipline, and actively participate in initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience. This role is pivotal in equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary for academic achievement and professional success.

Key Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong command of English and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and food regulations
  • Expertise in culinary techniques, kitchen management, and global cuisines
  • Computer literate (MS Office, email, internet)
  • Skilled in student engagement, teaching strategies, and critical thinking
  • Good planning, organization, and business communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Deliver theory and practical culinary classes
  • Prepare and update teaching materials and assessments
  • Monitor and mentor student progress
  • Maintain attendance and enforce CTIA rules
  • Manage class schedules and assessments
  • Ensure classroom and kitchen readiness
  • Participate in industry visits, open days, and marketing events
  • Maintain professionalism and foster a positive learning environment

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification equivalent to NQF5 (City & Guilds / Highfield diploma in Culinary Arts and or Patisserie – theory and practical)
  • Clear criminal and credit check
  • Valid South African ID / Passport
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
  • 2-3 Years experience in the food industry
  • 1-3 Years lecturing experience
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
