Health, Safety, Security Officer Equity

Assist the Safety, Health Environmental Risk and Quality Manager to meet the department and company objectives. Continuously monitor the status of the Health, Safety and Risk system. Encourage communication within all operational departments to achieve consistency in the effective implementation of safety management

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

- Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent)
- Certificates in HSS legislation ( SAMTRAC, ISO 45001, OHSAct, Grade A-E security, etc )
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Excellent knowledge of HSE principles, OHSAct & HSE Management System
- Excellent computer literacy in MS Excel/ Word and PowerPoint.
- Security training minimum grade E
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, incl. negotiation and influencing skills.
- Advanced decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Key Result Areas:

- Assist in compliance and assessments of HSS requirements.
- Prepare and maintain relevant HSS management and performance reports.
- Promote incident/accident prevention and investigate and report on occurrences thereof.
- Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSS training.
- Maintain good relations with staff, suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor and track the status of the HSS and take corrective actions as required.
- Conduct HSS Meetings / Training and schedule as required.
- Maintain master documents for the HSS management system.
- Keep abreast of HSS legislation, permits and updates and ensure compliance
- Track all occupational survey deviations and implement the relevant corrective actions.
- Assist in emergency response and compiling of IOD reports.
- Oversee behaviour based / observation safety programs.
- Quarterly planned job observations.
- Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs.
- Report non-compliance with local HSS laws to relevant internal staff.
- Assist in the development of HSS & actions plans to achieve objectives and targets.
- Conduct the necessary internal audits, inspections and checks to verify effectiveness.
- Assist in the preparation and participate in third-party HSS audits.
- Prepare & provide input to HS management reviews
