We are recruiting for a **Data Architect** role, for a 24-month contract. The Data Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of an enterprise-wide data architecture for the organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Design and implement enterprise data architecture aligned with the organization’s business and IT strategy.
- Define data standards, models, and metadata management practices to ensure consistency across systems.
- Lead the development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for both structured and unstructured data.
- Develop and implement data governance policies, including data security, quality, classification, lineage, and retention.
- Ensure compliance with data protection legislation such as POPIA and other regulatory mandates.
- Identify opportunities for data consolidation, quality improvement, and master data management.
- Support analytics and reporting initiatives by ensuring data availability, accessibility, and integrity.
- Work with project managers and business units to ensure data architecture aligns with transformation goals, particularly in claims processing and financial reporting.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data-focused team members.

**Minimum Qualifications & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- Certification in Data Architecture or Enterprise Architecture (e.g., TOGAF, DAMA, CDMP, or AWS/Azure Data Architect certifications).
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 6 years in a Data Architecture or Enterprise Data Management role.
- Experience with data integration tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, SSIS).
- Familiarity with data governance tools and frameworks (e.g., Collibra, IBM InfoSphere, Alation).
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid SDLC environment.
- Proven experience designing data architectures for complex enterprise systems and integrating across platforms (e.g., claims systems, ERP, CRM).
