**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to render services which supports the fostering of a provincial identity and the protection of rights by preserving a provincial archival heritage for use by the government and the nation according to the Provincial Archives and Records Service of the Western Cape Act, 2005 (Act No. 3 of 2005). This post is based in Cape Town, CBD.

**Minimum Requirements**:
**Recommendation**:
Working knowledge and experience in the following: Archives environment; Archival systems and procedures.

**Key Performance Areas**:
Preservation of digital and audio-visual records; Ensure that appropriate standards and practices are utilised in the preservation of archival records that consists of “new media” formats; Conservation treatment, repair, cleaning and storing of digital and audio
- visual records; Skills development and administration.

**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Legislation, policies and procedures of Archives and Records Service; Archives environment; Archival systems and procedures; Current archival policies and legislation.

**Remuneration**:
R 269 214 per annum (Salary Level 7)

Note on remuneration: Employees' service benefits or obligations (13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

The selection processwill be guided by the EE targets ofthe employing department.
