This involves producing management information and ensuring that business objectives / targets are achieved. **_ Position outputs:_** - Compile and provide budget directives to ODs (including financial directives). - Develop the Financial Plan for inclusion in the Corporate Plan. - Report on budgets and plans, coordinate and track initiatives (performance targets and moratorium). - Annual determination of shareholder value-add matrices. - Provide performance management information on a continuous basis in respect of performance against budgets and dynamic targets supported by root cause analyses (including opex and revenue analysis). - Consolidated annual volume plans and alignment for priority commodities. - Annual Corporate Overheads allocation to Operating Divisions and policy update. - Analyse, review and narrate the consolidated budgets for EXCO/Board. - Working capital analysis and management. **_Qualifications & Experience:_** - A CA (SA) or CIMA Financial Management is required - Proven 5 years’ relevant work experience at management level - SAP experience - Trust and Honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19 **_ Competencies:_** - KNOWLEDGE- Accounting - the ability to interpret cost reports, cash flows, variance analyses and financial statements - Ability to narrate financial plans - Link operational KPIs to financial KPIs - A good understanding of Economics and Transnet’s role within the economy - SKILLS- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail - Good communication and interpersonal skills FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES - FINANCIAL AND ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT- Review outputs of financial and cash flow analyses to develop views and guide management; and resolve significant reporting variances or recommend corrective actions where needed;- Design reporting and monitoring regimes to track performance against corporate objectives. - ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS (FIN TECH SYSTEMS)- Proactively share knowledge across the business regarding the finance systems and supporting technology; - Recommend new systems to automate existing processes and ways to re-engineer business process to effectively use new technology. - MANAGEMENT DECISION-MAKING AND CONTROL- Interpret and make effective management decisions using benchmarking, trends, and other planning and forecasting methods to develop and implement improvements to the planning processes;- Own, select and use financial and non-financial key performance indicators in the organisation’s appraisals; interpret trends from financial reports, extrapolate and evaluate risk in complex scenarios;- Interpret and analyse management information, in the context of the external environment and business objectives, and to advise decision-makers;- Adds to managerial knowledge, strategic thinking, financial planning and analysis, as well as skills in supporting a learning organisation. - FINANCE STRATEGY, RISK MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE- Develop innovative approaches to manage significant business risks effectively and efficiently; - Advise on best solutions and foresee the impact of changes in regulations, policies and procedures for non-complex and increasingly complex business issues;- Assess competitor’s future trends and strategies from benchmark data and identify key opportunities and threats for the organisation’s own business;- Demonstrate advanced levels of understanding of accounting standards.
