**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Handyman will carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of hotel maintenance, both internal and external. The role would include general DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling and flooring, and painting and decorating.

This will also include regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with housekeeping, performing jobs as and when they are required.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**:

- Matric certificate
- 3 years’ experience in Hotel Maintenance/Engineering in a 5* hotel
- Ability to work without supervision
- Good electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, tiling and mechanical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to handle a pressurised environment
- Must be able to work shifts and weekends
- Team and goal orientated
- Valid driver’s license

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Maintain a high standard of discipline and adherence to company procedures and required safety standards
- Take responsibility for all maintenance tasks required of the incumbent in the hotel Will need to do electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, tiling and mechanical tasks as required
- Report any problems that cannot be fixed in-house Ensure that all relevant paperwork is in place and correct Perform any other adhoc tasks as required by the relevant manager
- Specific Tasks include - installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building, fixtures and fittings.
- General plumbing including Plumbing - washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, installing new sinks, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC) - general carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, architraves, window frames, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware. - general tiling - floors and walls - flooring work, such as carpet tiles - general painting & decorating - basic electrical maintenance
- Liaising with housekeeping, performing jobs as and when they are required
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety
- Carry out planned tasks within agreed time limits and in accordance with contract/agreed requirements
- Ensure compliance to agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work - report to Line Manager
