**Job Purpose**:
The core job purpose of a Retail Guarding Officer is to ensure the safety and security of customers, employees, and assets within the retail environment. This includes preventing theft, deterring criminal activity, responding to emergencies, conducting surveillance, and maintaining a visible and reassuring presence. This is a self-positing position. Position will be based in Strand and Grabouw.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Security Monitoring and Surveillance**:

- Conduct regular patrols of the security premises to monitor for suspicious activities, theft, or vandalism.
- Utilize security equipment such as CCTV cameras and alarm systems to maintain a secure environment.
- Respond promptly to security incidents and alarms, taking appropriate action as per company protocols.

**Loss Prevention**:

- **I**mplement and enforce loss prevention measures to minimize shrinkage and theft within the store.
- Perform bag checks and monitor customer exits to deter theft and ensure adherence to store policies.

**Customer and Staff Assistance**:

- Provide assistance and guidance to customers and employees regarding security-related concerns or inquiries.
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while interacting with customers and staff.

**Emergency Response**:

- Act swiftly and decisively during emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches.
- Coordinate with emergency services and management to ensure appropriate responses and resolution.

**Report Writing and Documentation**:

- Accurately document all security incidents, observations, and actions taken in detailed reports.
- Maintain daily logs and records of security activities, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

**Collaboration and Communication**:

- Collaborate effectively with store management, fellow security personnel, and law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Communicate security concerns, updates, and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.

**Adherence to Policies and Procedures**:

- **E**nforce company policies and procedures related to security, safety, and operational protocols.
- Stay informed about changes in security regulations and standards, ensuring compliance at all times.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- _2 years of previous retail security guarding experience_
- _PSIRA Grade C_
- _Matric certificate is preferred, but not essential_
- _Must be able to effectively communicate and write in English_
- _Must reside in the areas of Strand and Grabouw_
- _Must be in a physical healthy condition (no underlying medical conditions)_
