Prime Video is looking for an experienced Public Relations professional to join the EMEA PR team to manage and lead on PR activity in Africa, with a focus on South Africa and Nigeria. As Head of PR for Prime Video Africa (based in Cape Town) you will develop and execute the PR strategy for the region and lead local PR campaigns for our biggest award-winning Amazon Originals, Exclusive content, the Prime Video service, studio and brand. You will collaborate with international teams, project manage multiple communication programmes at one time, and act as a key advisor to senior business leaders on local media strategies and reputational management.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a PR expert for Africa, with a focus on South Africa and Nigeria
- Develop and implement the overall PR strategy for Prime Video in the region
- Lead publicity campaigns for Amazon Original and Exclusive series and movies produced globally and locally, along with the extensive catalogue of content on Prime Video, and overall brand and service
- Create and deliver concepts for premieres and other events relating to Prime Video, including interviews with talent and spokespeople, set visits and press junkets
- Support and brief spokespeople and talent at public events
- Collaborate with Prime Video PR associates from across EMEA and worldwide, as well as international colleagues from Amazon Studios
- Work with key stakeholders across many regions including business leads, content teams, marketing and social media
- Provide local PR recommendations to senior business leaders
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant media in the region
- Conduct proactive and reactive media relations
- Budget management and reporting
- Manage external public relations agencies on several matters
- Keep current on trends, issues and news about both the business and consumer worlds of media and entertainment

About the team
The Global Media & Entertainment Communications & Awards team includes Prime Video & Amazon Studios, IMDb TV, Amazon Music, Amazon Games & Prime Gaming, Audible, and Twitch. This role sits within the EMEA Communications team for Prime Video & Amazon Studios, working closely with colleagues across the EMEA region, in other international regions, and in the US. Our teams work to highlight the innovation of our services, the quality of our content, and the diversity of voice among our creators and talent, by delivering media relations, talent relations, industry relations, and awards campaigning globally.
- International PR experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the media and TV production industry in Africa and internationally
- A passion for pop culture, TV, film and entertainment
- Confident communicator (verbal and written).
