Technical Officer

Manage technical investigations and projects.
- Provide innovative technical input to assist in maximizing efficiencies and reliability of the plant.
- Involved in product development and process related projects, modifications and improvement.
- Ensure capital projects are completed on time and in budget.
- Execution of investigations pertaining to customer complaints and implementation of corrective measures thereof
- Conceptualisation and front end engineering design of processes and equipment
- Project Management (Conceptualisation to Closure) - Turnkey and Internal Projects
- Execution of detailed energy, water and material balances
- Evaluating and conducting feasibility studies for resource improvement projects
- Lead or assist with process hazard analysis (HIRA, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, etc)
- Identification of process, procedural and system improvements to be implemented and the re-establishment of standards required for good operating practices

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science
- Degree -Chemical Engineering (B Eng. / BSc / B Tech)
- ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) registration as appropriate (with required CPD - advantage).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the chemical manufacturing environment especially in a MHI facility
- Experience with Process Safety Management systems within the operations environment.
- Technical Engineering background (optimization, design and maintenance of process equipment, project management, etc.).
- Practical understanding of Chemicals and Operations Management.
- Technical safety risk assessments (PHA, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA etc.).
- Incident Investigation including RCA facilitation.
- Process safety concepts.
- In-house procedure development.
- Good knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
