Main Purpose of the Role:_**

The position is in charge of making sure that employees follow health and safety regulations to promote the wellbeing of their team. Their duties include using safety research to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards, documenting accidents in the workplace and investigating the circumstances of an illness or injury. The position also aims to ensure contract adherence in terms of client relations, operational performance, commercial and financial performance and development and continual improvement initiatives.

The role needs to ensure operations are managed in accordance with the DSV standards and policies and procedures. Ensure that the DSV strategy, goals and initiatives are cascaded down through the organization into the various areas of the operation. Support and actively participate in development services and solutions to complement DSV's offering to the Automotive industry.

**_Job-related Requirements:_**
- Experience working in a Manufacturing Operations, Construction, Mining or Industrial Operational Environment
- Experience managing multiple operations concurrently;
- Solid business aptitude and experience managing overall program implementation performance;
- Strong computer skills and expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access;
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task;
- Detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative;
- Strong people management skills to manage diverse teams;
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills;
- Tact, a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work extended hours during the week and weekends, when required
- Site has a 3 shift operations, will be required to come to site for serious incidents or accidents
- Travel when required

**_Tertiary Qualification(s):_**
- _QSHE Management Diploma, or Certificate courses OR, 2-5 years minimum relevant experience in the QSHE industry with in-depth experience in all job-related requirements listed below._

**_Additional Computer Skills:_**
- Highly proficient in Excel/PowerPoint for data management and reporting

- Sound knowledge of OHSA and Department of Labour industry processes and standards

**_Duties & Responsibilities:_**
- Attend daily, weekly and monthly internal and customer meetings and provide detailed operational feedback
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
- Advise the company's administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
- Support line side station readiness process with respective production areas on QSHE compliance
- Provide direction and leadership and prioritize the QSHE activities of the operations
- Coordinate the development of a lean plant layout that achieves Ford Production Systems requirements with the operations area leaders
- Coach and counsel QSHE behaviors and instill discipline in Material Planning & Logistics processes
- Review and evaluate future plans for expansion and/or modification of the plant's Material Planning & Logistics equipment, resources, and/or future facilities to determine the effect on operations
- Assure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Maintenance, Environment objectives and operating systems implementation and adherence
- Assure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), vehicle safety, ergonomics, housekeeping, etc. practices are being planned and adhered to.
- Coach and counsel salaried and hourly employees as required
- Strong ability to interface with plant hourly personnel, salaried personnel, plant management, staff operations, logistic carriers, and production suppliers
- Strong analytical skills and quick decision making capability
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage high-pressure situations when necessary
- Attend cycle line layout reviews and provide feedback on MP&L Feasibility and issues on safety and ergonomics
- Develop a training plan with operations to ensure that each material handler is aware of new or changing material handling processes
- Coordinate material handling process, facility & equipment changes with customers Material Flow Engineering and Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering departments
