An Assistant Store Manager position has become available at Readers Warehouse Store based in Norwood, JHB.

The Assistant Store Manager performs the role of Assistant to the Manager of the Store, to ensure the highest level of customer service whilst maintaining store operations and security: including cash management procedures.

**Key performance Areas**:

- Assist with the management of stock.
- Identify ideal stock levels per book category with the Store Manager
- Front end consumables
- Management of Staff
- Pushing targets (daily, weekly, and monthly)
- Merchandising
- Determine range per book category.
- Evaluate ordering records per book category.
- Implement category stock counts weekly and investigate variances.
- Process transactions when Sales assistants are not able to get through.
- Control front end supervisor float and maintain change requirements.
- Conduct spot checks daily to ensure all stock is clean and neatly displayed.
- Conduct daily spot checks across the store to ensure display units are clean and dust free.
- Develop and implement methods to improve customer care results.
- Plan and create shifts and rosters. Evaluate shifts and rosters to optimize staff within budget, limiting use of casuals and overtime on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Financials and financial checks.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to complete all managerial tasks in the absence of the Store Manager
- Ability to assist the Store Manager in all tasks on a daily basis.
- Good understanding of and accuracy within the financial duties of this role.
- Neat and professional appearance
- Good Communication skills
- Sales focused with a strong customer service focus.
- Urgent turn-around time on customer enquiries.
- Work continuously on building relationships with customers and colleagues

**Minimum Experience**:

- 2-3 years of experience within a Supervisory role within a similar environment, being involved in the day to day running of the Store.
- Matric or equivalent
- Retail management certificate or equivalent would be an advantage.
- IR experience an advantage.
