**Job Description**:
The Scrum Master (SM) is responsible to oversee the scrum and development team. The
SM is knowledgeable in Agile methodology and scrum and able to educate others. He / She also act as a buffer between the scrum team and product owner and maintain a safe
working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution.
Scrum Master is responsible for the facilitating scrum practices in the planning and
execution of projects for the team.
The Scum Master is expected to be a coach and facilitator for IT teams. The work will
include coaching team members, proactively eliminating barriers, and facilitating team
delivery on sprint goals. This position works closely with product management, the
development team, the CIO, Software Delivery Manager and Quality Assurance Manager.
The Scrum Master should ensure successful delivery of projects on time and support Sprint and Release Planning, foster team self-awareness, encourage cross-training, decision making and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices
- Assessing the Scum maturity of the teams and organization and coaching the teams to higher levels of maturity
- Fully understand the sprint board and activities and actively track estimations, tasks and progress
- Helping the product owner, development team and client relations manager to achieve customer satisfaction
- Monitor and manage performance of scrum teams and individuals
- Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization
- Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments
- Manage the scrum and development teams to identify and fill in blanks in the Agile framework with focus on burndown techniques, retrospective formats, grooming principles
- Resolve conflicts and issues that occur
- Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity
- Support the product owner and provide education where needed
- Manage internal and external communication improving transparency and cooperation
- Manage development team members to ensure that sprints are successful and on time while delivering good quality work
- Shield scrum teams from outside influence
- Assist in release planning and execution
- Assist in product development roadmap creation and management
- Manage grooming sessions to ensure it is effective and required standards for all phases, story creation, development, testing is met.
- Manage retrospectives to ensure a process of continual improvement
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications**:
**Experience Required**:
- Minimum 3 years proven working experience as a Scrum Master in the information technology or software development sectors.
- Experience with Software development
**Knowledge and Skills**:
- Ability to analyze and think quickly
- Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum
- Knowledge and experience with software development
- Experience with Jira and Confluence is required
- Experience with successful Agile techniques
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Proven organizational skills
- Ability to work with and lead a team
- Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Business or similar
- Scrum Master certification
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction
- Understand generic healthcare industry requirements.
- Specific experience with practice management, clinical information systems, analytics, and interoperability is a plus.
Additional Information
**Working conditions/Environment**:
- May be required to work beyond office hours as required by the needs of the department and this position as well as the needs of the organization.
- This position is located in Durbanville, Cape Town. Working hours are flexible but a minimum of 8 hours work per day is required.
- Some team members are located internationally and ability to effectively communicate and manage through technology platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom is required.
- Small amount of Travel may be required.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations is required.
- Manual dexterity required to use laptop, iPad and peripherals.
