Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The Senior Manager: Enterprise Business Unit ( EBU) Strategic projects is responsible for establishing and implementing programme management for all EBU Projects as approved by Chief Enterprise Business Officer. The role is to be accountable for all EBU objectives within agreed time, cost and performance criteria from project start-up through execution and completion.

Measures of success include the fulfilment of EBU programme initiatives and outcome targets, managing the programme budget & reporting. Ensuring on-time delivery of programme objectives on time and accurately and consistently updating the dashboard on programme status

The Senior Manager: EBU Strategic Projects will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:
Project Management
- Provides project management and guidance to the EBU team to ensure the effective delivery of all projects within the programme.
- Ensures all projects within the programme are delivered and consistently aligned across EBU
- Defines, in partnership with various stakeholders, the EBU programme goals & outputs.
- Engages with EBU management to seek opportunities to align strategic priorities and leverage resources for the delivery of EBU objectives.
- Ensures projects within the programme are consistent and add value in accordance with EBU’s overall strategic goals
- Ensures the delivery of projects (within the programme) according to project scope while effectively managing resources, time and budget.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the document repository management for all EBU projects.
- Ensure the successful management of EBU programme risks, the measurement thereof and poses corrective action where necessary.
- Provide input and deliver dashboard report on the EBU programme for CEBO and EBU LT
- Engages with all key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and reporting.
- Manages the day-to-day execution of EBU projects to achieve outcomes in terms of timeliness, projected effort and financial resources, and quality

Governance
- Review, maintain and continuously improve the gating methodology in the execution of all projects to ensure projects are delivered timeously, cost-effectively and within MTN quality standards
- Embed cross functional collaboration and coordination on all projects; particularly commercial & technology etc.
- Ensure the operating governance structures at MTN SA aligns to the implementation and delivery of delivery methodology of MTN Group to ensure seamless, coordinated and effective monthly cadence.
- Foster adherence to the agreed MTN SA Governance framework

Reporting
- Reports across the all disciplines of the Portfolio & Project management
- Required by Governance forums
- Executive dashboards
- Resource capacity
- Delivery roadmap

Benefits realisation management
- Establish a Benefits Realisation Management Framework to integrate set of roles, processes, artefacts and behaviours that provide visibility to ExCo that its selected investments are delivering the benefits that were intended and to allow them to intervene to take corrective action where they are not.
- Ensure Benefits Realisation Management is a key part of the governance of MTN SA’s project delivery process
- The management of the realisation of benefits is supported by specific processes for estimating, planning, measuring, monitoring and reporting (and the feedback of lessons learned)

Change management
- Ensure all Changes wrt governance, methodology, standards & templates are communicated throughout the organisation to all stakeholders as and when needed.

Quality Assurance
- Oversee the in deploying the approach to:

- Assure the programmes and projects in its Approved Portfolio are being delivered to an acceptable level of quality (including in compliance with agreed methods)
- Identify and recommend improvements that need to be made to delivery processes to reduce enterprise delivery risk (continuous improvement - with the aim of driving up MTN SA’s project management maturity)
- Identify and recommend improvements that need to be made to the delivery of specific programmes and projects to reduce their delivery risk

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity: Refers to the responsibilities for directing, guiding, motivating and influencing others.
- Recruit, develop and retain people with outstanding skills, qualifications and potential
- Define the divisional KPAs and KPIs that will be cascaded down to each area
- Performance management and identification of training needs
- Accountable for a customer centric culture and shift to legendary service provision
- Build talent by identifying and developing new leaders for the respective environment
