- Take a lead role in supporting all matters of Health, Safety the Environment and Sustainability compliance across the operational footprint to ensure consistent progress is achieved by ensuring the site teams are aligned with the group & business objectives and targets of working towards a Zero Harm environment.
- Support and advise the Operational Management Team on all legal requirements ensuring that the business area always remains compliant and audit ready.
- Through visible leadership ensure a positive safety, environmental and sustainability culture is encouraged through demonstrated use of continuous improvement tools and methodologies, and the sharing of best practices from industry as well as company Group are adopted or demonstrated for implementation.
- Manage the generation and upkeep of required EHS improvement plans across the operational footprint, ensuring that internal and external audit non-conformances and observations are considered and included where risk is evident so that these risks can be proactively identified, managed and either eliminated or reduced
- To support the development of Performance Plans and to control the EHS budget for the Operational footprint
- through the EHS pillar of the 3-year Master Plan.
- Be a major contributor to all EHS forums and committees, both nationally and internationally, ensuring that a collaborative spirit is evident at all times.
- Lead, coordinate and manage EHS-related projects to either reduce or eliminate risk as identified through routine
- hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) protocols.
- To study and analyse safety conditions, installations, equipment, and ergonomics to reduce the frequency and severity of industrial risks (employees and subcontractors) and occupational exposure.
- To ensure the continuous training and improvement of skills and knowledge of the Operational Safety Resources (SHE Reps, First Aiders, Firefighters, etc.)
- To ensure timeous reporting of EHS activities as prescribed by company Group requirements.

- Ensure compliance with company Group EHS Standards, supporting their implementation across the operation, logistics and offices within set timescales.
- Promote a Zero Harm culture through leading by example, promoting best practice and supporting all employees to value EHS by praising good practices and challenging unsafe behaviours. Promoting the SafeStart philosophy in order to support behavioural safety improvements.
- Promote any initiatives contributing to a healthy work environment with focus on wellbeing and occupational health.
- Contribute to our Road to sustainability programme and become an ambassador to support local initiatives.
- Supporting the ‘One company philosophy by leading EHS team meetings to ensure best practice, sharing knowledge and supporting efficient work activities.
- Attend Regional and International EHS meetings where required to ensure South Africa is represented.
- Ensure the EHS systems are working consistently and efficiently, supporting non-operational EHS alignment.
- Be aware and communicate any legislation and corporate standard changes, and how they will impact the business.
- When attending meetings that may impact EHS, be part of the decision-making process to ensure EHS is suitably considered and assessed.
- Lead the Management time regarding EHS by ensuring incidents, audits and other processes are correctly investigated and actioned.
- Develop Performance Plan projects each year, ensuring the highest risk priorities are considered.
- Use relevant action tracking programmes to monitor and support timely completion of EHS actions.

**Pioneer to Lead**
- To be the EHS main contact for operational, supply chain and office matters relating to health, safety the environment and sustainability.
- Manage the step down clinic on site
- Manage the cleaning contractors relationship
- Manage the security and risk management service provider from a safety perspective
- Liaise with external bodies, such as the municipality, external auditors, insurers etc where required.
