Our client a global leader in security solutions is wishing to appoint an Accountant and Compliance Officer to support the Financial Controller with the financial reporting function for Sub-Sahara Africa and ensure this is managed in a professional and timely manner, and that the required processes, technology systems, and internal controls are adequate and effectively implemented.
The jobholder will provide adequate support to the local country Sub-Sahara Financial Controllers to ensure compliance with the Groups Accounting Manual and Policies and Procedures.
The jobholder will also play a key role to improve compliance and financial reporting activities for these regions.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To ensure accounting work performed in the local entities of the Company's Sub-Sahara Africa operations complies with the Group's Accounting Manual, by:
- Review and posting of monthly intercompany transactions and balances reporting on HFM
- Perform monthly reporting process on HFM of dormant entities in the group
- Review of monthly reconciliations between local ERP (BC365) and HFM,
- Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations against the Group Accounting Manual and supporting documents and formalising timeous feedback to the local country management,
- Supervision of all the Company's Sub-Sahara African legal entities’ fiscal close and all statutory requirements forthcoming as locally performed:
- Monitoring submissions of tax returns and providing support for any Revenue Authority audits that may arise as a result.
- Ensuring year-end close has been performed after sign-off of annual statutory audits
- Monitor the internal control environment, as stipulated by the Group Internal Control and the Risk and Control Matrix, through quarterly review activities.
- Support compliance to all policies stated by Group (Business Representatives, Export Control, etc.) through quarterly review over the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable master data.
Supporting auditing, finance, and the internal control environment to ensure local statutory and Group compliance by:
- Monitoring progress of annual statutory audits to ensure timely completion
- Reviewing of audit journals and ensuring these are captured in the local ERP
- Review of local reconciliations between statutory audited annual financial statements and local ERP
- Providing support during internal audits and routine balance sheet review reporting to EMEAI Internal Audit.
- Ensure recommendations forthcoming from audit and review activities are implemented and reported.
- To provide periodic reports as required by EMEAI and the Africa Exco.
- To analyse product margins, perform special reports and analysis to provide consultative support to new business initiatives in conjunction with the local management teams.
- The individual will also play an instrumental role to enhance the IT technology landscape including ERP, Business Intelligence, and other reporting toolsets.
- Ensure that all the Company's Sub-Saharan Africa legal entities adhere to all monthly statutory requirements.
- As a key member of the Company's Sub-Saharan African business drive performance improvement in all areas of the business through effective communication and leadership and support to the Financial Controller: Sub-Sahara Africa.
- Provide continuous technical support to local financial controllers in Sub-Sahara Africa.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- BCom (Hons) with articles.CA (SA) will be advantageous.
- A minimum of 3 years post articles experience in the commercial and manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of IFRS.
**EXPERIENCE**
- Experience in ERP, IT, Business and Reporting Tools essential (Hyperion, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Very strong analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to drive improved performance in the finance team.
- Experience in preparation and drafting of annual tax calculations and financial statements.

**Salary**: R550,000.00 - R650,000.00 per year
