**Job Description**:
Serve as a Technical advisor to the Natural Resources Division on all HSE related areas, including legal compliance, client requirements and OI management system requirements as per local and Global requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
- Implement relevant OIMS and local health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements at all sites with Business Line.
- Conduct OI training aligned with OIMS and local regulatory requirements.
- Ensure operational implementation of all OIMS and local regulatory requirements through the use of Global assessment tools, and auditing / assurance processes
- Manage clear HSE related communication between role players (OI, Coordinators and Management)
- Promote HSE awareness (Campaigns, awareness, communications etc.) throughout the respective business line
- Implement the business line OI Top page throughout the respective business line
- Report and manage OI related incidents, near misses, hazards and best practices in accordance with group expectations
- Form part of all Incident Investigations within the Business line, and also act as Lead Investigator where needed.
- Report incidents and near-misses onto Crystal
- Report site KPI’s (by obtaining information from the sites, and ensure correct data / information is reported to Global)
- Facilitate Risk Assessments through the Crystal module
- Facilitate OI projects, and form part of the roll-out and implementation phase of each specific OI Project
- Implement Global OI Initiatives throughout Natural Resources (Safe Start, Stellar, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Safe Talks, SGS Rules for Life, Stop Work Authority, BBS, etc.)
- Ensure corrective action implementation from Incidents / Best Practices
- Conduct L4 compliance audits and inspections / site visits and provide guidance and assistance on related challenged and areas of improvement
- Evaluate the business process, procedures in relation to changes and amendments as and when required
- Assist locations with internal and external audits, client visits, governmental / regulatory visits etc.
- Assist Location OI personnel to arrange for Occupational Hygiene Surveys to take place at least every 24 months
- Keep up to date with Global SGS systems in area of responsibility
- Assist with Regulatory and Legal compliance to NNR, DOH, DOL, PMR, DOE and SAAQIS requirements
- Effectively assist all OI Responsible personnel with relevant Global OI Systems (Stellar, Crystal and Chemwatch), and ensure that the OI systems are managed according to Global standards and requirements. Also ensure that all responsible OI Personnel have been thoroughly trained on the OI Systems.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- National Safety Diploma or any other OI related certificates
- SAMTRAC / NEBOSH (Completed)
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience within HSE field
**Experience**
- 8 - 10 years relevant HSE field
- Regulatory (NNR, SADPMR) and Governmental (DOL, DOH, DOE, SAHPHRA, NEMA) experience will be an advantage
- Microsoft software (Office, PowerPoint, word, excel etc.)
- Document and report writing
- Broad knowledge of applicable legislations
- Knowledge on ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001
- Systems and Legal auditing
- Good personnel / communication skills
- Role player / team leader
- Investigation knowledge & skill
- Risk assessing in practice
Additional Information
- Ability to understand and explain technical (HSE specific) topics for all levels of personnel
- Ability to understand site contributions to Regional OI Performance and capability to use existing tools; prioritizing risks and influencing factors
- Ability to influence without direct reporting lines
- Ability to evaluate the accuracy of root cause analysis and the effectiveness of proposed solutions
- Sufficient knowledge of English to communicate with the OI Manager and to understand Global OI Communications
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
- Report any faulty and/or nonfunctioning apparatus or equipment to the immediate superior.
- Each staff member has the authority to cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard and/or work that may affect the quality or integrity of test results.
- Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation. The employee has the responsibility to protect the environment as well.
