Catholic Mental Health Ministry Deanery Coordinator

CATHCA seeks to recruit Catholic Mental Health Ministry Deanery Coordinators in **Aliwal Diocese, Klerksdorp Diocese and Witbank Diocese** to work closely with the Catholic Mental Health Ministry Manager at CATHCA, under the guidance of the guidance of CATHCA Executive Director.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Participate in project review and mentoring meetings.
2. Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned by the Mental Health Ministry Manager.
3. Conduct mental health awareness events within parishes and broader communities, promoting understanding and reducing stigma.
4. Facilitate psychospiritual support initiatives for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, ensuring holistic care that addresses both mental and spiritual needs.
5. Conduct screenings for mental health conditions, utilising standardised tools to identify individuals who may need further support.
6. Provide referrals and establish connections between individuals and local mental health care services, facilitating access to appropriate care and resources.
7. Carry out knowledge, attitude and practice surveys, as well as service satisfaction surveys, to assess the impact of initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
8. Maintain accurate records of all activities, including participant data, event outcomes and follow-up actions.
9. Submit comprehensive narrative reports on the Catholic Mental Health Ministry activities, achievements and challenges on a monthly basis.
10. Participate in project review, planning and mentoring meetings, sharing insights, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Catholic Mental Health Ministry.
11. Assist in conducting workshops for parish volunteers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to support mental health initiatives effectively.
12. Coordinate volunteer activities within the deanery, ensuring adequate volunteer participation for events and ongoing support initiatives.
13. Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Mental Health Ministry Manager, including ad hoc projects and cross-functional collaborations.
**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- Minimum of a Matric qualification or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and mental health care practices, including awareness of common conditions and support strategies.
- Proven experience in community health work, preferably within faith-based or non-profit settings.
- Skilled in group facilitation, with the ability to lead discussions, workshops and support sessions effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with community members across different backgrounds.
- Proficiency in English and at least one locally spoken language within the deanery.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally within the deanery to conduct outreach and support activities.
**Job Type**: Temporary
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: R2 500,00 - R3 000,00 per month
