**Purpose of Role**:
Reporting jointly to the Head of Finance of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy Africa (Philanthropy Africa), Head of Risk, Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy Group and the Group Audit Committee, the Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning, managing and executing Internal Audit (IA) activities within the Philanthropy Group.

The group has been recently established and comprises a number of programmatic, shared services and grant making entities that have undergone substantial changes and expansion resulting in increased complexity and level of risk. The non profit group conducts a combination of centrally coordinated processes and systems as well as decentralised processes and systems, that are governed through a Group Audit Committee that is accountable to the AGGP Africa Board. This is a new role within the group, with independent assurance services were previously provided through a group secondment arrangement.

**Objectives of Role**:

- Full involvement in the audit lifecycle. Following an understanding of risks facing the group, perform the detailed scoping and planning of the internal audit engagements, agree these with management and carry out the detailed reviews and testing.
- Reporting of audit findings with senior management and Group Audit Committee (and other Committees), and following up with management on their responses, as well as tracking findings through to closure.
- Documenting and reviewing business processes and controls (including IT); identifying risks and areas for improvement.
- Developing pragmatic solutions and identifying best practice controls.
- Documenting detailed audit working papers and valid supported findings. These will form support to the work of the External Auditors in planning and executing their audits.
- Assisting in promoting risk and internal controls awareness throughout the Group.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- CIA, CA(SA), CISA or equivalent qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA).
- 7 years audit experience - philanthropy or non-profit exposure will be an advantage.
- Strong business process exposure, ideally through performing detailed audit/assurance engagements.
- 3 - 4 years post qualification experience at a senior auditor / team leader level.
- Extensive experience performing internal audit reviews including process analysis and risk-control assessments with mínimal or no supervision (non-negotiable).

- Maturity of experience and technical ability to ensure pragmatic and effective assessments of risk areas giving credence to the sector and organisation lifecycle in which we operate.
